Aodd Pump Working Principle
Air Operated Double Diaphragm Pumps also known as AODD Pumps are used in a wide range of applications in various Industries. By design AODD Pumps find use in transferring solid laden liquids, highly viscous liquids apart from a wide range of others.
AODD Pumps use compressed air to operate and are a type of positive displacement pump. During operation, compressed air is moved by a shaft from one chamber to another. The linked shaft allows the chambers to move simultaneously. This motion forces liquid out of one chamber to the discharge line while the other chamber is being filled with liquid simultaneously. They use reciprocating elastomeric diaphragms to pump the fluid. A common inlet and common outlet are present in the pump.

In general the suction lift and solid handling capability of AODD pumps are good. They can handle highly viscous fluids, sludge and slurries with high amount of grit or solid content. Pulsation can be noted in the outlet flow, a pulsation dampener may be used if the same has to be avoided.
